{ Girlin' up the Dan-Cave }

Posted by Head Fly at 7:02 AM 0 comments
sorry Danny...
I just had to add this flower embellished pillow to the Dan-Cave.

And I snuck in a few other patterned pillows too.
(since then, there's been a moratorium put on throw pillows in this house,
who ever heard of too many pillows? silly men).

It's a long way from when we first laid eyes on this room...

Wheels have been added to this trash find to create roll up bench seating when we have company.

And this little lady will soon be covered in coffee bean sacks.

The room is really taking on a "lodgey" kinda cozy feel.

subtle french colours

I keep coming around to the same palette of colours, looking for softness, comfort and warmth.

I love the wooden panelling in this dining room, the French chairs painted and chipped,
then covered with old linen grain sacks.

The stripped wooden floor boards,   the simple table setting and understated flowers.

Ease and elegance, what we all need.

The Joy In Blogging at Lil Blue Boo

Posted by Head Fly at 11:37 AM 0 comments

Today I am guest blogging over at Ashley's blog, Lil Blue Boo, and I'm sharing a little bit about how I find joy in blogging.  Ashley has gone through a lot this past year and is currently undergoing cancer treatment.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  Ashley is an inspiration through her creativity, positive attitude, honesty and outlook on life.  She somehow manages to always view the glass as half full.

As Ashley would say, "Choose Joy".

What didn't get blogged about

Aubrey is leaving for a boys weekend tonight after work, so Oscar and I are hanging solo.  Even though I have 3 dedicated days in the office (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays) I find myself having to work when Oscar naps and once Oscar goes to bed. Which makes it feel like I'm always working - which eventually catches up on me and I crash (or get cranky) So, tonight, with Aubrey gone, I may just sit and watch TV on my own. Like all of the Real Housewives series that Aubrey hates. So, tonight is a total trash TV night for me. Yay!
  • I LOVE this project that Amelia did using our DIY Bunting Flags. So creative and easy.
  • Thanks to Amy and Shannon for their super sweet posts on my stuff. I love, love seeing photos.
  • I had a lovely coffee date with Jen, and something REALLY exciting is in the works.
  • We got our quote from our drywall guy, Joe, and it was totally reasonable, so we're happy with that. Only 1,099 other things to get quotes on. Yay.
Have a great weekend! xo Linds

end of fairs for this year

Next Sunday will see the last of the  brocante fair season in our part of the world!  It has been such fun, not once have I regretted getting out of bed early on Sunday, sometimes driving a long way. And this week I'll have the bonus of dragging along a girlfriend - but I'll tell you about that later.

Inevitably after a season treasure hunting I have some favourite buys in my memory, but also unfortunately the memory of the ones that got away.

For this Sunday to be totally perfect, and to make up for those goodies I didn't manage to purchase during the year, I'd have to find:

a chandelier for said girlfriend, I have to put this first, because that is after all the reason for her coming all the way out here, and if I don't at least look as I'm searching, she'll get into a sulk, and then where will we be?

A napolein III sewing mannequin, I still have to breathe deeply every time I think about the one I missed here in May !!! GRRRRR!!  It   She was perfect, tight waisted, all in black, pert silhouette .... sigh ... SIGH!!

some glass cloches for mon jardin;

another huge lantern to hang outside our workshop;

definitely want some more sarreguemines, preferably soup tureens;

and of course to make my bonheur complete, and because my linen shelves aren't groaning loudly enough yet, I'll be looking out for

beautiful,
heavy,
smooth,
off white,
embroidered,
monogrammed,
bed linen

wishing you all an action packed weekend too!!

Apartment Beauty

So much to look at in this apartment- a beautiful sitting area next to a sharp desk/work space.
Is that a navy table? Love the unique art...
Bright and white at the same time. Clean without feeling sterile, fun without feeling cutesy.
Pretty entry. Also a great example of how styling can make a picture.
