{ Give Thanks }

Posted by Head Fly at 11:28 AM 0 comments

Gather...

Create a paper templette with the size triangle you want to use. (It doesn't have to be perfect)

Use Pinking sheers to avoid fraying (and the sewing machine)

Hot glue string, twine, or ribbon to the back (or front) of your triangles

Clip stencil letters on your triangles with clothes pins, paper clips, whatever works.

{ Bathroom Mistreatment }

Posted by Head Fly at 4:42 PM 0 comments
The Nester was one of the first blogs I ever read,
and was smitten immediately.
Especially when I saw her category

I've been creating my own
no sew
window treatments ever since.

The latest mistreatment was in Jonas's bathroom

I used 2 yards of this bird fabric that I found
at Fabric.com
($15.)

the secret to this valance is this...

a tiny little nail.

I just folded and fluffed, 'til it looked right,
then tapped in a small picture hanging nail.
No liner, no seams, not even hot glue.

The blue bird is where I pulled the color for the ceiling from

the walls

revere pewter - BM

here's a shot of all the colors together

{ I've Been Cheated... }

Posted by Head Fly at 7:04 AM 0 comments

The drop cloth drapes were one of the first things I hung up
when me moved to this house last summer.

and, I like them.
Only I was itchin' for more...

I've been using Fabric.com for a while now
& I love it.
They make it so easy to search & find what you're looking for.
And, the swatches they send you are huge.
Not just a skimpy little snip, but an 8" X 8" good chunk.
{enough to turn into a flower pin, I'm sure}

Fabric.com will also suggest "go with fabrics" too.

My love for brown toile will never fade.
I have always loved the look of toile, in any color.
So finally, I added some to my own home.
I used these simple clips from Lowes
to hang the fabric.
No sewing, cutting, or hemming.

and I added them right along side of the drop cloths.
I know the drop cloths have that cute little fold at the top,
and the toile doesn't.
But I'm crazy like that.

And, there long enough to just plop onto
the floor in a puddle to gorgie brown toile-e-ness.

You'll be singin' like Linda Ronstadt all day now
{you're welcome}

And the winner is...

the drop cloth drape.

Thank you to all that voted.
It was really fun to see everyone's comments.
So many things I didn't even think of.

.
Lori, from
had a great idea
use the drop cloth in the Fall/Winter
and the Chambrey in the spring/summer.
Now, why didn't I think of that?
Thanks Lori!
I think I will hang on to the Chambrey panels for when I get the itch to switch.

Okay, now that that's settled, on with finishing the bedroom.
Thanks all

{ The Bedroom ~ A Poll }

Posted by Head Fly at 3:29 PM 0 comments
The bedroom is coming together nicely.
I have had these Chambrey blue curtain panels up for a few months now, along with the bamboo shades.

and I love them...
only I don't know if I love them with gray walls I recently painted.

Scenery 2...
I also have drop cloths left over from our last house that I haven't used anywhere yet.

What do you think?

Whatever the panels are there will still be bamboo shades under them, and
honeycomb shades under them.
{they were there when we moved in and I really like how the 3 layers of window treatments create total darkness}

Remember, here's my palette for the bedroom

with all white cotton bedding.
{those blue prints are just small accents in the room}

Here's a picture of the inspiration room I used when creating this room ~

{source unknown}

So, I'll love to hear your opinion...
I've installed a poll
and I'd love it if you'd vote for your favorite.
the polls are open for the next 48 hrs, so get out and vote people!
Thanks, can't wait to see the results.

which is it?
the chambrey blue or the drop cloths?
{the poll is on the top right in the sidebar}

Surf Shack

Posted by Head Fly at 5:02 AM 0 comments
It's Saturday Night over at Funky Junk Interiors and this week's theme is window treatments.
I'm entering my little bit off the rack, little bit recycled and rescued valances and roman shades in my son's room.
Confussed?  Hang in there ~
Summer of '08 my nephew made us one of these

Am I entering window treatments that I made for our chicken coop - you ask???
No, I'm not that "project obsessed", not yet anyway (note to self for next summer projects).
With some leftover paneled wood , my nephew created these little babies ~~

I bought the roman shades from JCP.com and added this trim with double stick fabric tape ~

Just adds a little sumpin' sumpin'

P.S. the room wasn't all that "picture perfect" ready, but you get the idea, right?
Hope you like :)
